Send off

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

The Sending off service for the Arkansas Riders went really well. It was really good for me to be reminded that people do care. People are generally interested and supportive of what we are doing; sometimes it’s easy to forget. We showed the new trailer for the Equality Ride movie and it was a surprise for all of us. I had no idea that they had made a new trailer. This one was longer and showed more things and touched much deeper into the visit at BYU. I cried, as usual. After watching the old trailer dozens and dozens of times I desensitized my self to it, it was good to be reminded that this is going to be a very powerful two months for me and the other riders.

We raised a little over $1,000, which is good news. I am grateful for everyone who came out and I can’t believe that we are leaving in four days.

Love,

Adam Britt

Arkansas Equality Riders Send Off

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

Join us for an interactive night with Soulforce Equality Riders! Come say farewell, learn more about the ride, and be entertained by local artists!

In March 2007, fifty-six young activists will board two buses and begin a two month long journey that will take them to thirty-two colleges that have policies banning the enrollment of openly Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer students. Through dialogue with administrators, faculty and students, the young activists of the 2007 Equality Ride will make clear the harmful effects of the false notion that homosexuality is a “sickness and a sin.” To make public their case for equality, the young activists on the Equality Ride will hold vigils, Bible studies, class discussions, community forums, and press conferences.

Amanda Harris, Kourt Osborn, Adam Britt, and Jeremy Gabbard will embark from Arkansas on March 1 to seek dialogue with these schools and spread a message of hope and healing. Join the riders for a fundraiser send-off event!

Free food available, tip money at the bar will benefit the Equality Ride. The Equality Riders would greatly appreciate your support and donations.

Updated Equalityride.com

Sunday, February 4th, 2007

www.EqualityRide.com has been updated for the 2007 ride. I encourage you to visit the new website, as it has information about the 2007 routes and many photos and stories from the 2006 ride. Also, I hope that you will look at this page, which briefly covers the Freedom Ride Tradition. Not only were the Freedom Rides an incredibly important event in our history that many people are not educated on, these Freedom Rides are also what inspired the first Equality Ride, one year ago.

With all my love,

Adam
